ABOUT

The AMECO-17 system was developed by a team of
three Structural Engineers and one Computer Science
Professor. Over the past 40 years, the same team
has been responsible for virtually all programming
updates and improvements.
Developed over 40 years ago while conducting research as part of their PhD theses at McGill University, the authors pioneered the innovative basis for AMECO-17 that has been in use by structural engineers on projects worldwide ever since. Today, AMECO-17 continues to stay ahead of the times by offering unparalleled speed and efficiency to structural design projects.
The relatively small team of just four developers
enabled very tight and efficient control on the
planning, programming and evaluation to be possible
throughout, and to this day results in an exceptionally
high quality and reliable software product for
you.
Since its introduction in 1964, AMECO-17 has
kept up with the times. For the first 22 years
of its existence, AMECO-17 resided on IBM and
CDC mainframes, mostly at Multiple Access Computer
Group. Some 200 engineering firms used Ameco-17
on the Multiple Access network in Canada and the
USA. Since 1986, AMECO-17 has migrated to super-minis,
workstations and finally to personal computers.
